The "Integral system for the development of CSR in the agrofood ecological industry in the EU”, is a project co-financed by the European Commission, DG.Employment, Social affaires and Equal Opportunities, under the ESF - PROGRESS Programme - Call VP/2008/007 - Projects in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and it’s led by Instituto de Fomento de la Region de Murcia.
The MAIN OBJECTIVE of this project is to foster CSR at regional and European levels in Agrofood industry companies, with particular attention to the subsector of organic
products, where the establishment of social responsability as a main issue in corporate
management that contributes to competitiveness and sustainability, socially responsible production and consumption, and also innovation and transparency.
The exchange of best practices and tools on a European scale could foster social protection and inclusion, improve the working environment and occupational health and safety conditions, the balance between work and family life, the effective implementation of the principle of non-discrimination and the principle of gender equality, as well as respect for the environment and the rational use of resources.
The SPECIFIC OBJETIVES of the project are:
- Discover the real situation of CSR in the EU Agrofood industry.
- Identify and quantify the best practices to be applied in one of the European Union strategic sector.
- Quantify the levels of excellence attained in CSR for the chosen industry.
- Promotion of the implementation of best CSR practices at business level and dialogue with stateholders.
- Publish the results all over Europe and creating a permanent forum for communication between EU countries to exchange practices and foster CSR at business level.
- Provide a methodology that can be extrapolated to enterprises in the Agrofood Industry all over Europe, implementing best practices in CSR and attaining levels of excellence.
